Hatchling is a hazy childhood recollection of sorts, pairing claustrophobic vocals with a mechanical piano part, reminiscent of a child's music box. The lyrics parallel a childhood memory of a baby blackbird falling out of its nest quite literally with the feelings of abandonment and insecurity that Georgia felt when living without her family for the first time.
